Yoga Therapy

“The subtle energies of body, breath, and mind are not separate. Yoga and Ayurveda teach us to weave them together in harmony.”

What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is a relatively new, and much needed, therapeutic practice which offers a whole person approach to healing. Rather than simply treating symptoms, it explores the underlying causes, taking into consideration the physical body, the mind, the emotions, and the breath.

With roots in Ayurveda, a yoga therapist may also look at energetic imbalances within their clients, which can often be a root cause of illness.

Yoga Therapy is a deeply personalised approach offered on a 1:1 basis. Unique healing pathways are tailored to the individuals needs. It is both practical and deeply nurturing, drawing on the wisdom of yoga and the insights of modern science.
Through simple, accessible practices: breath, movement, rest, and awareness, Yoga Therapy helps you to restore balance, build resilience, and find greater ease in your daily life. It is the art of meeting yourself as a whole being, awakening your natural capacity for healing.
What to expect from a Yoga Therapy session?
Sessions may include movement, breathing practices, guided relaxation, meditation, or simple lifestyle suggestions. Everything is tailored to what you need most, and you’ll leave with tools to use at home.

• Yoga Therapy is most effective when you commit to a home practice •
Yoga Therapy is not like going for a massage or reiki etc, you will see more benefits with a home practice.

FAQs
What kinds of conditions can Yoga Therapy help with?
Yoga Therapy can support many health conditions including stress, anxiety, low mood, fatigue, musculoskeletal issues (like back pain), perimenopause and menopause symptoms, respiratory challenges, stress and burn out, fibromyalgia, M.E. / C.F.S., endometriosis, headaches/migraines and more. It works alongside medical care to support your overall well-being.
Do I need any experience of yoga?
Not at all. Yoga Therapy is for everyone, every age and every body type. Each session is specifically designed for you and your needs.
Do I need to be flexible?
Absolutely not. Yoga Therapy is not about what you can or can’t do physically. It’s about supporting your whole well-being. We will work gently and progressively, with practices adapted to your body, abilities, and goals.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies for each person. Some people come for a few sessions to address a particular concern, while others benefit from longer-term support. Usually, after an initial assessment, we can create a plan together that feels realistic and supportive.

We can meet at first from twice a week, to bi weekly; and then have ongoing follow on appointments whenever needed.
How long before I will see results?
That depends on your starting point, your condition, and your commitment to the practices we create together. Some clients feel shifts quite quickly, like better sleep, less tension, or a calmer mind while it may take longer for others. For deeper, longer-term changes, the benefits build steadily with regular practice.
What happens when Yoga Therapy ends?
Yoga Therapy is designed to give you tools you can carry forward into your everyday life. When our sessions together finish, you’ll have practices to continue with, empowering you to maintain and build on the progress you’ve made. Some people choose to come back for occasional ‘top-up’ sessions or seasonal check-ins.
Is Yoga Therapy safe if I have a medical condition or injury?
Yes, the sessions are adapted to your needs. I will always take into account your health history and, if needed, work alongside your medical team to make sure your practices are safe and supportive.
Is Yoga Therapy the same as a yoga class?
No. A yoga class is usually group based, following a generalised sequence. Yoga Therapy is one to one, personalised, and specifically designed around your health goals and unique circumstances.
Will it replace my medical treatment?
No. Yoga Therapy is complementary, not alternative. It works alongside any medical care or treatment you’re already receiving, supporting your overall quality of life and well-being.

What Yoga Therapy is Not

Yoga Therapy is not a substitute for medical care, counselling, or psychotherapy. While it can complement psychological and medical treatment, it does not provide formal diagnosis, mental health therapy, or medical intervention.

If you are seeking support for deeper psychological issues, trauma, or clinical mental health conditions, it is important to work with a qualified counsellor, psychologist, or psychiatrist. Yoga Therapy can support you alongside these treatments, helping to regulate the body and nervous system and provide practical tools to enhance overall well-being.

I may refer or recommend you to another health practitioner if I feel that Yoga Therapy is not right for you at this time.
